Death of former Chairman, James Grant

The Board are sad to announce the death of James Grant, a current Board Member who stepped down as Chairman to the Witham Fourth District IDB in December 2018.

James was Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2018.  He took over the role earlier than expected owing to the poor health of the previous Chairman and spent 16 years in this role, retiring as Chairman in 2018.  He followed his father Ted Grant, who was also Chairman from 1996 to 1999.

James gave his time generously to the Board and worked hard to raise the profile of the Board and the work we deliver.  He regularly spoke to Board’s Officers to stay up to date with the operations and challenges faced and would always stop to speak to staff working around the district.

He will be greatly missed at future Board meetings and the Board have passed on their condolences to his family.
